Jeepin’ to McCracken Mine, AZ

We’ll be hitting the road soon for Texas, but before we leave Arizona I wanted to get in at least one desert Jeep trip.

So on Valentine’s Day myself and three others drove our two Jeeps to McCracken Mine. We left the campground at 9 am and returned in the afternoon at about 4 pm.

Most of the ride was on Alamo Road, a desert freeway, complete with street signs and mile markers:

The trip was dusty as hell, but the desert was very green and close to blooming.

Nice trip Tom. Did you get to the mine part? I read in the link to the McCracken mine that in the 1870’s it coughed up 1.5 million in silver.

    Pretty interesting.

Did you run into any rattlers while you were out there?
