Phone alert came about 5 minutes after the quake
That’s right, a 5.8 quake in Lone Pine about 60 miles south of us. This quake was fairly strong and lasted about 10-15 seconds. Just like the previous quakes, I thought it was just wind gusts at first. Exciting.

June 1st, Monday afternoon — Jan and I were both working in the campground office when some guy stopped by to tell us that there was going to be a Black Lives Matter protest in Bishop on Tuesday.
He said something to the effect that four bus loads of people were being bussed into the protest. He seemed to think that it was time to circle the wagons.
June 1st, 9:30 pm — Because of death threats, the organizer of the BLM protest calls off the Tuesday protest.
June 2nd, Tuesday 9:30 am — I went for a Starbuck’s run into Bishop about 9:30 am, and passed by about 50 or so demonstrators in the city park. No sign of any busses. Peaceful.
June 2nd, Tuesday, 10:30 am — While out grocery shopping, passed by a much larger city park crowd (100 – 200). Still no sign of busses. Still peaceful.
June 2nd, Tuesday, 12:30 pm — Maybe 50 people left in city park. No busses. No violence.
Heard that one of the campground campers hoped that there would be violence so that she and others could go the park with their guns.
We have a long long way to go.
The nationwide BLM demonstrators reminded me of a different time, a little over 50 years ago, when I was a student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
April 28, 1970 — President Nixon approves “incursion” (ie, military invasion) into Cambodia.
May 4, 1970 — during anti-war demonstrations following the incursion, four Ohio Kent State University students killed by the National Guard.
May 6, 1970 — protests erupt across the country, including at UW-Milwaukee . . .
