We Are Now Arizonians

The AZ DMV -- Our Path to Residency

The AZ DMV — Our Path to Residency

Born of necessity (i.e., lower state taxes), we decided to abandon our proud Wisconsin cheesehead past and forge ahead into the less-taxed state of AZ.

The path to AZ residency led straight to the Lake Havasu City Department of Motor Vehicles (or AZ DMV for short).

It was there that we took eye tests, obtained AZ driver licenses, registered all our vehicles (+ the park model) in AZ, paid the AZ VLT (Vehicle License Tax) — ouch! — and registered to vote.

All of this in about 2 hours.

Needless to say, we were wiped out after we left.

I’m having one helluva time trying to send you a message but am running into technical difficulties. I’ll try again. Congratulations on your new residency status. Sure as heck understand the choice of Arizona for lower state taxes and warm weather. Glad it works out for you. And speaking of taxes, I no longer pay income tax……….I mean, on what? Guess I don’t make enough to declare. Or is that a reward for being 81? Enjoy your new home and new turbo jeep. Gotta vote today and hope to elect a new mayor and lots of judges (??). Kath

From one red-stater to another, welcome to crazy town. Get you some guns and keep an eye out for illegals.

    • AZ is crazier than TX. We’re in the news much more often.
