We Sold Our RV

Citrus Heights Buyers

We put our 2001 Newmar Mountainaire on the online RV Trader (https://www.rvtrader.com/listing/2001-Newmar-MOUNTAIN+AIRE+4095-5016296735/) about a month ago.

During that time we only had about a dozen inquiries and only two couples stopped by — one a looky loo and the other a young Silicon Valley couple who examined our RV for about 3 hours and took dozens of photos. Neither of these two resulted in a sale.

Three Hours & Dozens of Photos Later

Then about a week ago Jan put an ad for our Newmar on Facebook Marketplace in a few cities in our area. That did the trick. Last Saturday we accepted an offer from a Citrus Heights couple. On Sunday they arrived with a bag full of cash, then drove off into the sunset (literally) with their Newmar.

C’est la vie.

We feel bittersweet as the sale marks the end of an era with us. We bought our Newmar in 2010 and have tons of memories in that RV. However, the sale allows us to pay off our manufactured home mortgage and then some. So that’s good.

Now what?

We still plan to travel, but differently. I’d like to take a few train trips and Jan wants to fly.

I think we’ll still keep this blog going . . . just with a different focus. See you soon.

I think they got a good deal Tom & Jan. You took such good care of it and made sure it had the latest and greatest stuff on it. I can imagine that you two are a little misty about giving it up… but, there’s fun to be had out there.. so shake your shakers so they don’t go to rust! Mary

On to something new! Although know it’s hard to give up somethings! D sold the ‘68 Ford convertible a little while back. He had bought it new. Yup, tough, but time to say goodbye!

Your blog started in 2011 did you travel in any RV before this one? What made you decide to come off the rode? And none of my business but what are your ages. We stared traveling in 2007 in a travel trailer since 2010 we have been traveling in a motor home. We travel several times a year and spend many months in Texas during the Winter. We still maintain our home. We are 70 & 71 reasonably good health. Just wondering how many more wonderful years we can continue to do this. Thank you.
Oh have really enjoyed your Blog

We are about your ages and decided that we liked RV traveling and cannot give it up. While the 40 foot diesel pusher was too big and aging, we will be getting a smaller RV. How long? We will see!

Sure hope you keep the blog going. Nice way you keep in touch.
My son Tom, said his friend who has an RV, told him sites are getting more particular about look and age of RVs they allow. Maybe good timing for you to sell.
Hope you both are ok and looking forward to new adventures.

    • It’s a great time to sell. Used RVs are much harder to find now because of all the folks wanting to get on the road after COVID.
