North Lake Day Trip . . . It’s All About the Road

Lake Sabrina, South Lake, and North Lake are all up the road (Highway 168) from us.

We’ve been to South Lake. We’ve been to Lake Sabrina. We’ve been to both South Lake and Lake Sabrina.

But we’ve never taken that right turn on Highway 168 to North Lake . . . until last Thursday.

Here’s our best picture of North Lake:

Here’s Jan being cold as hell at 9,200 feet . . .

Finally, I don’t remember the drive up to North Lake. I think I blacked out. You see, about 2 miles of the trip up were negotiating a one-lane road with sheer drop offs. I know we encountered a couple of huge pickup trucks coming down the mountain as we drove up, and we survived.

Now you tell me

Since we had the inside lane on the drive down, we felt emboldened to film it.

That’s Flirt panting in the back seat.

Rock Lake Day Trip

Last week we took a road trip to Rock Lake which is about about 45 minutes from our campground up Highway 395.

However, we took back roads (red dotted line above) most of the way.

Rock Lake is at 9700 feet so cold weather and Fall comes early. In fact on our way to the lake, we say early snow on some of the mountains.

We had lunch at the lake and did some hiking. Flirt went into the lake as soon as we arrived and has smelled ever since.

Flirt Turns 6

About a week ago our Golden Retriever turned six years old. No longer a puppy. So we celebrated by getting all maudlin as we remembered  our former dogs.

Be that as it may, here’s our girl at 8 weeks and at 6 years . . .

DICHI GOLDEN ACRES

Our Flirt’s mother is also named Flirt and her father’s name was Chance (the dog all over Jan’s feet at the end of the video below).

We got our Flirt as a puppy from Dichi Goldens in Wisconsin in 2012. Before we picked her up in November of that year, we visited Dichi in June, a month after our previous Golden Retriever Jack died.

Here’s a movie of our visit to Dichi Goldens in June 2012 . . .
